ProjecteSD founded in February 2003

Based in Barcelona, the gallery program has been constructed to generate a dialogue between renowned and young artists, and a platform to host and present works of different times and contexts, as a way to priorize artistic value over trends, classifications, nationalities or generations. ProjecteSD has traced a rigorous line of work, a solid yet not predictable program, with the goal of promoting its artists in the international art contemporary scene and to introduce to the Spanish audience international artists.

ProjecteSD has combined a daring exhibition program with a number of significant events that go beyond the conventional exhibition format. Curators, artists and publishers have collaborated with the gallery in presentations, exhibitions, conversations or book presentations since the opening of the gallery.

The gallery devotes special attention to artist’s books and hosts a permanent section of selected publications. ProjecteSD was the first distributor in Spain of Roma Publications (2004) and devoted a survey exhibition to Christoph Keller (Revolver) and Roma Publications in 2005. As a publisher, the gallery has been engaged in its own editorial task since 2008. PSD books started with Archivo J.R. Plaza by Iñaki Bonillas. Since 2014 ProjecteSD produces limited edition posters for each exhibition held at the gallery designed exclusively by artists as a way to counteract corporate overdesigned manifestations to favour, simplicity and directness.

ProjecteSD participates in such prestigious fairs as Art Basel (Basel), Fiac Paris and Arco Madrid among others. Between 2011 and 2013, the director and founder of ProjecteSD, Silvia Dauder was one of the expert committee members for the Art Feature and Art Statements sections of the Art Basel fair. In 2014 ProjecteSD received the Arte y Mecenazgo award given by “La Caixa” for best gallery.

ProjecteSD has been recognised as housing a new concept of gallery within the Spanish contemporary art gallery scene. Its consistent program, its particular selection of artists, not driven by commercial concerns and its personal approach, have contributed towards the gallery’s notoriety and uniqueness.

ProjecteSD is a member of the ArtBarcelona Association of Galleries.
