Organoleptic is an exercise in utopian imagination that tackles the creation of the contemporary, western anatomical body, focusing on its organic fantasies, pathological figurations and obsessions.

Organoleptic delves into stories of the creation of the western human body, asking questions about its component parts, its marks, its cracks, its invocations of completeness. It investigates the systematic records of the flesh. It also turns to the inventories of colonial matters to move the registration systems of the anatomical body.

Organoleptic refers to the capacity of matter to invoke the senses. Michel-Eugène Chevreu explained in Chemistry lessons applied to dyeing (1829): “I propose to bring together, in a particular group, the properties that we observe when bodies are in immediate contact with our organs; thus the bodies that act on the skin, those that act on the sense of smell and taste, which have properties that I refer to as organoleptic. The same applies in cases in which substances act on the internal organs of our bodies; the actions that are caused are only known for the effects that they have, which I link to the organoleptic properties”.

Organoleptic is also used to refer to a substance that facilitates sensory excitation, and what is more, the analysis of organoleptic properties is a technique for studying the characteristics of soils, for which no quantitative system of measurement is used, but which are instead assessed through touch, smell, taste and visual appreciation.

Organoleptic is a project consisting of a series of drawings of the clinical record inscriptions of the western organic body; a series of archive objects (photographs, bones, seeds, Indian salt, Palo Santo) and a series of fetishes, i.e. a type of enchanted object that is worn or carried close to the body, in contact with the skin or which could be left on another body, or in a place, depending on its usefulness. In this case, there are six engraved on different materials using unorthodox techniques: a locket, a dyeing and staining technique, a set of ceramic objects, a cebil mill, a pestle and mortar and an account of the ancestral communication experience reproduced in a piece of collaborative audio.
