PLOM presents the performance Area 51 House Party. In the artist’s words, it is “an appropriationist massacre of the best 51 dance anthems of late 2018 on Máxima FM, whose visual equivalent would be a 4K HD film on a 50-inch screen that would explode over and over again and be rebuilt in 3D graphics made from tiny fragments of glass and plastic.” Based on radio-format dance music that can often be heard in the corner supermarket, PLOM presents a brutalist sound sculpture speeded up to 200 bpm, which the artist made during his morning commutes on the local railway network.

PLOM is one of the most indefinable and extreme projects by Pau Mangrané Figuera (Reus, 1984). Percussive mathematical aberrations, extreme sound and the abusive use of samples are some of the characteristics that describe the sound compositions of the fugacious PLOM. Pau has made and edited numerous cassette tapes and CDs published by labels like FLUF, Nyapster, San José Tapes, 8eminis, Chirria, C/V and Autonoise. He has performed at places as diverse as 1646 Gallery, OHM Gallery, Le Larraskitu Kluba, MACBA, the Fundació Joan Miró, La Capella, Freedonia and Hangar, among others.
