Aperitif with Explica Dansa/Toni Jodar and Beatriu Daniel: "Ballar l’esgotament" (Dancing exhaustion)

Eduardo Fukusima interprets exhaustion and at the same time exploits it as the driving force of movement. In the piece displayed, “Como superar o grande cansaço” (How to overcome the great tiredness), he uses an eclectic physique to create languages and strives what makes his body most uncomfortable. The artist performs his object-subject. Contact with the ground prevails.

Since 2005 he’s been exploring oriental corporal techniques such as Japanese seitai-ho and Chinese txi-kung. He’s also studied classical ballet, Brazilian dance, Angolan capoeira, release technique, contact improvisation, Indian dancing and artistic gymnastics.

Choreograph, dancer and teacher in São Paolo since 2004. His works have been performed in Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, England, Italy, Cyprus and Taiwan. In 2012 he took part in the festival World Event Young Artists in Nottingham (United Kingdom). In 2012-2013 he was chosen as a protégé (student) for the art patronage scheme Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative and worked with Lin Hwai-min, artistic director of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, in Taiwan.

In March 2015 he performed this choreography live at the Mercat de les Flors.
