Ever since I can remember, buying and eating pastry and sweets have been one of the greatest pleasures in the world to me, and even thinking about this produces a strange sense of happiness in me,

despite knowing all the harm they can cause. Perhaps, I think to myself, I shouldn’t suppress this —such joys help our spirit and body endure the hardships of life. Coping with life and surviving difficulties takes different shapes and forms. To survive natural and human danger, for thousands of centuries, our ancestors used to build shelters. Over time, those shelters turned into more magnificent structures, hosting beautiful details, amazing ornamentations, and magnificent mirror works. Humans realised that the soul and mind also need to cope with the waves of life and find pleasure in small moments as well. The creation of this series of works began with paintings that resemble both an architectural structure and the seductive sweets behind the windows of shops. My interest in architecture and confectionery led me to explore interesting similarities between them. The main elements that make up both have a simple structure that helps create an experience. Also, we should not forget the “presentation”, one of the most important aspects in both professions. Having balanced aesthetics in confectionery and architecture invites more people to experience them. The colourful sweets and beautifully balanced structures have understood that they could extend their functions by going beyond satisfying basic human needs for food and shelter, by aiming to address more subtle sensations.
