This series, which I’m still working on, started a little over a year ago. It speaks of light, lightness, levity. As is becoming normal in my procedure, the journey, the route, the moment and its emotion are the centre of the beginning of my series. I like to work in series, a concept that can show its different nuances.

While in the Medina of Assilah, in Morocco, I passed every day on my way to the studio through a narrow alley, with white walls, whose ceiling was made of bougainvillea flowers. Upon entering this small tunnel, the light was magenta, flooding everything, filtering through the bougainvillea petals. There were a large number of them fallen on the floor, piled up, trapped, moving between the walls. This small moment, just an instant, surprised me every day. On the ground the composition of the flowers varied day after day. I couldn’t help but take them with me to the studio, play with the little heap they formed and draw them, their colours; write the sensations.

As always, these moments resemble the personal moment, that is, after all, they resemble life, that which is ephemeral and intense, the continuous movement, the joy…
