El cementerio sin cultura is a performance by Pasaporteman (artistic name of the creator and musician Baba Sy) commissioned by Cordova for Sâlmon Festival. Based on the traditional Senegalese Lamb wrestling, Pasaporteman conceives an immersive work with two wrestlers as protagonists and two percussionists who, together with him, create live music. The piece explores both the moment of the fight and the ritual processes of dance, song and sound that accompany it before and after. In line with other works, El cementerio sin cultura addresses the process of emigration, in particular, that of those who do the mbeuk mbii and try to reach Europe from Senegal by sea.
