Pre-biennial activation with Anaïs Florin: "Històries de cafè" Talk in the Centre d'Estudis Populars i Arxiu Històric de Roquetes-Nou Barris

As the only European nomadic biennial, Manifesta creates site-specific transformative events which re-imagine, with local citizens and communities, how we live, work, and see our futures.

For its 15 th edition, in 2024, Manifesta will open for the first time in 12 cities in Barcelona’s metropolitan region for a period of 12 weeks: Badalona, Barcelona, Cornellà de Llobregat, El Prat de Llobregat, Granollers, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Mataró, Sabadell, Sant Adrià de Besòs, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Terrassa.

On this occasion, delve into the “Escoles en lluita” archive. Next week, Anaïs Florin will activate the archive she has been compiling through a series of talks and workshops, within the Manifesta 15 Barcelona Education and Mediation programme.

Born at the end of the 1970s, “Escoles en lluita” proposed a pedagogical renewal with a working-class perspective within public schools. After 40 years of the Francoist regime, they demanded the Spanish government to renovate the educational system.

Anaïs has been investigating this movement, which filled up the area of Porta, Sant Andreu, Trinitat Vella and Ciutat Meridiana in Barcelona with social demonstrations and other political actions led by citizens.

Come join us for three days as we address the importance of archiving and saving the traces of past struggles.
