In this hypertechnological piece I wear an earplug and the artificial intelligence dictates the text and gives me orders in real time in a virtual world. This is the prompt I gave it: “Create a truly amazing meta-theatrical virtual reality performance, combining the styles of Wajdi Mouawad, Marina Abramović, Romeo Castellucci, Jose Luís Moreno, Rodrigo García, Angélica Liddell and Jérôme Bel, along with the worldview of Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Elon Musk and Steve Jobs. Make me a play so good it ends up programmed at the Avignon Theatre Festival.”
Trained as a dancer, actor and cellist in Madrid, David Fernández has collaborated with La Ribot, Robert Lepage, Angelica Liddell and Cuqui Jerez among others. He has performed with his own Company since 2014. The body, music and everyday technology are fundamental elements in proposals full of risk, poetry, humour and experimentation. Punk energy and a DIY philosophy permeate a work that ranges from classical music in symphonic halls (the Berlin Philharmonic or the Elbphilharmonie) to improvised solo sessions. Acclaimed by the Spanish press for his theatrical work, he has also recorded and produced 3 CDs (Ecce Cello). He has been living and working in Berlin since 2011.
