Barry Salzman is an award-winning contemporary artist who currently works in photography, video and mixed media. In addition to being placed in prominent collections, including the EKARD Collection and Sanders Collection in the Netherlands, his work has also been acquired by The Blavatnik Archives in New York City.
Salzman was born in Zimbabwe and schooled in South Africa. His maternal family was directly impacted by the Holocaust, prompting his decade long exploration of the recurrence of genocide in his art practice. His project “The Day I Became Another Genocide Victim” that endeavors to humanize victims of the genocide in Rwanda was awarded an International Photographer of the Year award in 2018 from the International Photography Awards (IPA). He has an MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media from The School of Visual Arts in New York City, a Bachelor of Business Science degree from the University of Cape Town, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
