“Només cross cross cross” is a work group that is part of Joana Capella’s Twork project. This activity allows the physical exploration of the notions of intensity, performance and productivity through dancing together, with the aim of exercising a possible collective muscle memory.
Taking twerk as a strategy to experiment with other possible gestures, the artist bodily explores the limits of what we understand to be productivity and searches for a way to make the muscle memory of the overall “overworking” emerge. During the workshop, we will question and explore what the muscle memories of other bodies, the soil and machinery are like and we will use the body to try to interpret concepts such as water stress, overcultivation and land restitution, among others.
This project has been carried out with the support of grants for innovation in visual arts from OSIC (Cultural Initiative Support Office of Catalonia) and the residency programme of Sant Andreu Contemporani at the Fabra i Coats: Art Factory.
