Training and reflection program around performance practices. For three months, the latest trends in performance art, xenofeminism or textual scores and the relationship of the concept of performativity with mediation, literature, image or gender will come together in a free access conference program.
03/22 PEDRO ALBERTO CRUZ. Appropriation and deconstruction of power discourses in contemporary performance.
In this master class, a tour will be offered of some key names in contemporary performance – Tania Bruguera, Regina José Galindo, Santiago Sierra or Andrea Fraser – from which it will be analyzed how Arctic performative practices have monetized systemic power strategies to subsequently , deconstruct them and reorient them towards even openly critical ones.
Pedro Alberto Cruz is a professor of contemporary art at the University of Murcia, art critic and theorist and poet. Among his books the following stand out: “Marcel Duchamp. The shadow and the feminine” (Bellaterra, 2016); “Art and performance. A history from the avant-garde to the present” (Akal, 2021); and “Race, gender and morality. The clean and the rough in contemporary art” (Abada, 2023).
