Thanks, but I’ve got my own is a series of works arising from the artist’s reflection on the analysis of human behavior. We all have in mind the image of the battle for toilet paper in supermarkets during the pandemic. Toilet paper was the first thing that reflected the absurdity of fear of the unknown and of a reality that is difficult to understand. A change of values, of our fears and uncertainties, which we also overcome with black humor.

“The answer led me to ask myself more generally what mistakes we make in today’s constantly changing environment ; how to understand something in constant motion ; how to clean up the mess we detect to regain calm from the understanding of that environment.”

For his series, Raymond Gaston sought to transform the basic material of toilet paper into a desirable artistic object. In addition to completely questioning the way we value objects, he distances himself from the overwhelming reality of mass death and quarantine. The series is thought-provoking with a touch of humor.
