As I recall my travels, and the residencies among them, I think of the contradictions we get caught up in every day, and I’m still unsure if a residency can offer you anything more than a trip as a tourist staying for a limited period of time in a hotel can offer you.
Etymologically, to gestate means to carry in the womb, to think, to develop a plan. In order to gestate, we need seeds, care, shared knowledge, community – «a ruminant temporality» (Massón).
The La Almáciga project is committed to rooted political art, in alliance with scientific thinking and politics that are in symbiosis with the place.
If we pay attention, that is, attend to what we take for granted without question; we may discover that sometimes it actually does us good to stop, open the window, and let the sunshine and the fresh air in. Observe carefully.
For this edition of BGW 2022, GRAF team has toured the streets and galleries of the city to interview various people linked to the contemporary art world, sharing their views and experiences this year at the BGW.

Out of all the cogs in the wheel that turns the art world, collectors are often the least conspicuous, despite keeping the machine well-greased to hold it all in motion. For Art Nou 2022, five collectors have, literally, opened their doors to us, so we can spend some time at home with them, talking about their interests, about how they got started, what inspires them to acquire a work of art and how they have gradually built a collection.

I was locked up with my teenage son in the rented flat in Ribes street, where we have been living for fourteen years. It had been a long time since we had spent so much time together. He decided to happily immerse himself in video games, while I, incredulous and naive at the same time, thought that this biodictatorship would not last more than three months.
