After more than four months of siege and genocide of the Palestinian people, more than 30,000 people have been killed and 2 million displaced in a brutal bombing campaign by land, sea and air. In Rafah, the last Palestinian stronghold, more than a million people are trapped and in extremely critical conditions, while the Israeli army bombards the city with no clear intention of providing a safe exit for the Palestinian population.
Because we cannot and do not want to normalize genocide, on Friday 23 February we are organizing a second session of Stop the Foc – Days in Solidarity with Palestine. We reopen our space to be together and remember that we are many people and organizations that stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and create materials for the state mobilization on 25 February.
The event is free and open to people of all ages (children and adults) and includes a kite workshop, and space to make posters and banners, and free printing at La Escocesa risograph printing press. We will close the evening with a dinner inspired by the recipe book Las cocinas de Gaza by Laila El-Haddad and Maggie Schmitt.
*All funds raised will be used to finance residencies for Palestinian artists through RED TEJA: a network of cultural spaces that has been created to support emergencies from the artistic and cultural sector and of which we are part.

from 16.30 to 18.30h – Kite and badges workshop
Free activity for all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult).
In 2011 the children of Gaza broke the world record for the number of kites flown simultaneously on the beach of Al-Waha. The kites have become a symbol of the resistance of Palestinian children, who experience more violence and destruction than anyone should ever experience. In this workshop, given by “Parque Creativo” and some artists from La Escocesa, we will learn how to make solidarity kites.
At the same time, Nadia Otshudi will also help us to create our own badges to show our solidarity with Palestina.
from 17.00 to 19.00 h – Free printing of posters in risography
La Escocesa offers its risography machine at 0 cost for the printing of posters for the demonstration. If you wish to bring your design, please note the following:
- You must bring your design in A3 size and .pdf format on a USB flash drive.
- Posters will be printed in one ink.
- Maximum 20 posters per design, depending on demand.
In case the number of attendees exceeds the capacities of the machine and the event organization, the number of posters to be printed per person could be limited.
from 19h onwards – Dinner with suggested donation
The dinner will be hosted by the members of La Escocesa, at the request of the artist Vivien Sansour, and inspired by the recipe book The Kitchens of Gaza, by Laila El-Haddad and Maggie Schmitt, during which excerpts from this book will be read.
The suggested donation for the dinner is 10€ and will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.
