Lo Pati, Centre d'Art de les Terres de l'Ebre, based in Amposta, aims to be the catalyzing core of initiatives and projects in the field of visual arts carried out in the catalan regions of Montsià, Baix Ebre, Ribera d'Ebre, and Terra Alta. The center's task includes programs for dissemination, training, production, collection, and archive, in accordance with being part of the Network of Visual Arts Centers of Catalonia. The uniqueness of the project is articulated from the relationship between art and nature.

Historically, the Ebro Lands have been a territory where the convergence of unique landscapes (the river, the delta, the mountains and the sea) has generated a crossroads of passage and contact between cultures. The centrality of the Ebro River has always made it a hub for commerce and agriculture and, nowadays, a resource for leisure. Therefore, it is proposed to collect the symbolic legacy of the river as a link between the various territories it crosses, not only as a space for socioeconomic development but also as a meeting place and cultural intersection. We are talking about a natural border that is not seen as an impermeable limit but as a porous zone for the exchange of information and negotiation of identities. Hence arises the notion of a crossroads between culture, nature, and landscape as a space of singularity and an area of specialization towards which the art center aims.

The art center is located in the heart of the city of Amposta, where the courtyard of the public schools used to be, and this reference explains the origin of the brand Lo Pati (meaning ‘courtyard’ in Catalan language). The center has a fixed exhibition area of 584 m2.

The center also has an artist residency located in Balada, in the heart of the Ebro Delta.
